Emerald Ash Borer Found in Batavia

The emerald ash borer has been discovered in Batavia.

The destructive pest was discovered on 43 trees in the Batavia Industrial Park in the far northeast area of the city, it was announced this week. This is the 12th confirmed EAB sighting in Kane County - the first was in Campton Township a year ago. It has also been found in Wilmette and Evanston.

No changes are expected in the quarantine zone set by the Illinois Department of Agriculture because the city is already part of it.
