Municipal Managers Urban Timber Harvesting for Hardwood Lumber Utilization and Recovery (M2UTiH2LzR) is a one-day workshop teaching municipal forest managers how to obtain the highest possible use for the wood from their urban and suburban trees. This program is a complement to UTiH2LzR, which focused on hands on tree felling and grading for arborists, this program deals with management issues such as markets, contracts and other removal considerations. A morning of classroom instruction including a panel of timber buyers is followed by hands on sessions in the afternoon of log grading, trees, and crane and sawmills demonstrations. The Illinois Emerald Ash Borer Wood Utilization Team, Illinois Arborist Association and the City Of Elmhurst have teamed up to offer this program to the greater Chicago metropolitan area. If you are interested in learning how to recover and utilize urban hardwood tree species in your neighborhood or municipality, then this workshop is for you!
